Damascus Road Camp- August 10-15

Damascus Road Camp

Damascus Road Camp

For 1 week each summer we take local teens to camp. It is a wonderful time of FUN, bonding, games, crafts and so much more!

August 10-15, 2010

Many of our youth do not have the finances available, so we hold fundraisers such as car washes and selling ice cream cones. We also look for sponsors to assist these youth in going to camp with us.

WHAT WE ARE… A PLACE TO GO
One of the problems faced by young people in St. Catharines is where to go to ‘hang out’, and what to do when they get there. Positive options are extremely few. The Deck Youth Centre provides a positive option, and in turn, can serve as a valuable preventative to questionable life-style practices.

PEOPLE WHO CARE
Peers, as well as adult role models, are sought by youth in a desire to find people who will care about them. The Deck provides an opportunity for young people to interact in a positive environment, as well as meet adult volunteers and staff persons who are willing to offer a listening ear, encouragement, support and friendship.

A PLACE TO FIND PURPOSE
Young people are experiencing a transition during which issues of personal identity, values, and life direction are being explored. The Deck Youth Centre promotes the healthy development of the whole person (physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual) in an effort to assist youth in building a stable foundation for life.

AT A GLANCE…
The Deck Youth Centre is: – a ‘user friendly’ place for teens to hang out – a program offering fun activities – refuge from pressures that may exist at school or at home – a safe place for young people to be with caring adult volunteers – a confidential source of mentoring – an opportunity to explore life-related concerns and spiritual issues
